Amino Acid Analysis
Amino Acid Analysis
- HCl Hydrolysis
- MSA Hydrolysis (for Trp determination)
- Performic acid oxidation (for Cys determination)
- Ion exchange analysis on a Beckman instrument
On our current Beckman 7300 Analyzer, a full-scale peak
corresponds to 2 nmol of an individual amino acid which
means that about 10 micrograms of an average protein should
be hydrolyzed for optimum results. The limit of detection
for protein concentration estimates is about 0.5 micrograms
and the dynamic range extends from about 50 pmol to 80 nmol
for quantifying individual amino acids. (More
